Whether it's true or not we don't know yet. The fact is there is something magic about wish lanterns. Something extraordinary that creates a big happy smile on your face. Something that makes you stare up at the sky with your mouth wide open. Wish lanterns are basically small hot air balloons that fly several miles up to the sky . Wish lanterns are also called sky lanterns. If you ever saw an orange moving spot on the sky, it's not a UFO but a wish lantern as they are getting very popular these days in Ireland and we sell hundreds every week only in Dublin. We use the wish lanterns for almost every occasion, party and quite often just for fun on a Sunday evening. Our friends love them and get them for their weddings, birthdays, etc.
Setting them free will create a stunning and romantic display. My girlfriend says that nothing can be more romantic than setting off a couple of wish lanterns with our wishes written on them......and she is right because that's how we got together.
So take the next step now and give it a go.

enjoyable yet amazingly simple show for all ages.
The myth about wish lanterns that they are dangerous is not true anymore. They are far safer than regular fireworks. However safety and user guide must be followed).
Our wish lanterns are flame resistant and bio-degradable , tested for european
standards of quality, safety and enviromental impact. They also hold the german TUV certificate. In fact these are the only properly tested wish lanterns on the market in Ireland.
Our wish lanterns and their fuel cells are specially designed to be the safest and easiest to use in irish weather conditions and are completely legal for use in Ireland.
Sky lanterns generaly are far safer than any fireworks. Please do not make your own sky lanterns. It's not worth the hardwork and the trouble when it goes wrong. Remember to use only tested and flame retardant wish lanterns.
How it works
It works in the same way as a hot air balloon. When the fuel cell is
lighted, the air is heated within the sky lantern. Hot air rises thus
the result is the sky lantern rises and drifts with the air currents lighting up the sky. After lift off the sky lantern flies for 12 - 15 minutes.
They are made from very light paper and a bamboo rim. The use of these materials ensures our sky lanterns are the very light and easy to launch whilst being enviromentaly friendly as 99% of the components are biodegradable. There is a small amount of very thin wire across
the opening of the sky lanterns which holds the fuel cell in place (except eco lanterns, they are wire free).
Our sky lanterns are perfectly safe to use and do not produce any harmful or toxic gases.
They are fully assembled and ready to be used in seconds. The fuel
cell is included.
We are always available to offer advice or guidance and always pleased to answer any questions you may have. Here are some frequently asked questions:
What are sky lanterns?
Sky lanterns are floating lanterns made from cotton/rice paper with a bamboo frame containing a waxy combustible fuel cell. When the fuel cell is ignited it heats the air inside the sky lantern causing it to rise. The sky lantern is airborne for approximately 10-20 minutes after which the lantern floats back to the ground
Why should I use Sky Lanterns for my special occasion or event instead of some fireworks?
The lasting visual effect that you and your guest/friends will enjoy far outweighs that of a firework. Also, Sky Lanterns are silent so much more sociably acceptable and, as they can float for 10-20mins and up to 1 mile high, give far better value for money. Additionally, fireworks are known to release toxic chemicals into the atmosphere. Sky Lanterns are perfectly safe to use and do not produce any harmful or toxic gases.
Where can I get the wax fuel cell?
The fuel cell is a part of every pack when purchased at dublinBAZAR.
Do not use any other fuel cells than provided by us.
Are Sky Lanterns safe to use?
Sky Lanterns are perfectly safe when „User and Safety Guide“ is followed.
Failure to comply with any of the User and Safety Guide could results in damage to persons or property. Sky Lanterns are purchased and launched at your own risk and dublinBAZAR take no responsibility for damage that may occur as a result.
What's the environmental impact of a sky lantern?
Our Sky Lanterns are manufactured from very light rice paper and a bamboo rim. The use of these materials ensures our Sky Lanterns are light and very easy to launch whilst being environment friendly as 99% to 100% of the components are biodegradable. There is a small amount of very thin wire across the opening of the lantern which holds the fuel cell in place (ECO lanterns are wire free). As previously mentioned, Sky Lanterns are perfectly safe to use and do not produce any harmful or toxic gases.
What are the best conditions for launching sky lanterns?
The optimum conditions would be when there is no wind and no rain (see Safety guide bellow). For the very best effect you should launch your lantern when the air is still, it is dry and it is dark outside. You will then get the full benefit of the lanterns floating gently away into the night sky. You should also consider where to launch your lantern so, once it is airborne, you can see it floating for the longest possible period of time. Avoid areas populated with tall trees and buildings etc. These ideally should be at least 30 metres away. You should not attempt to launch Sky Lanterns in windy conditions.
Are they easy to assemble and release yourself?
It really is just a case of removing the Sky lantern from its protective wrapper, unfolding and lighting the fuel cell provided and then allowing the lantern to fill with warm air before releasing into the night sky.
How do you light them?
They are lit from the wick using a flame, a lighter being more appropriate. The wick should be left to burn for approximately 10 seconds until the wick is sufficiently lit to allow the lantern to fill with hot air.
Can I take my lanterns on an aircraft?
Yes.
Flying lanterns are not like traditional fireworks and do not have an explosive element. Simply pack them carefully into your suitcase (not in hand luggage). However, if in doubt, please note that it is advisable to check with the airline as each individual airline may have their own policy.
How long do Sky lanterns fly for?
Sky lanterns fly for many miles and as far into the distance as the eye can see. The wick can burn 10 - 20minutes (depending on size of sky lanterns) before extinguishing and floating softly back to the ground.
Can the lanterns be attached to the ground?
Absolutely not!
